So i've been a bit absent recently, and I am sorry for that. I have been juggling my internship, work, summer school, as well as summer work for the fall semester (pretty much starting my senior thesis). Given this, there is no excuse. I have realized that this is a better outlet for me than it would be if I were to really delve into Youtube, mainly because it doesn't really require as much prep work and editing. Now, this doesn't mean that I won't make another video, they just won't be frequent. They will be more to enhance this blog, rather than vise versa.

My Hair
For the summer I have been rocking some long braided extensions. Now, I have two reason for doing this with my hair, well actually maybe three.
1. Wanted long hair
2. Wanted an easy hairstyle
3. Wanted to leave my actual hair alone.
Reason 3. has to be the main reason that I did this for the summer, which means it should probably be at the top of my list of reasons, but for some reason I think its more fitting at the bottom. For most of my college career, and slightly before that, I have been wanting to grow out my hair, but with relaxed and highlighted hair. This is a great struggle/challenge to do since I am damaging my hair with these processes. And for most people who have my hair type and wanted to grow out their hair, they would usually cut off all the relaxed hair and start a natural route. But, I didn't want to do this, main reason is that I believe my hair is more manageable relaxed than it is natural.
So given this info, during Freshman year, my hair had actually gotten to my collar bone and I was really excited about that, but before going into Sophomore year, I had this crazy idea to cut it short, which now sometimes I regret. I know I look great with a short bob almost pixie cut style, but I know it just became a setback for me. And with the short hair, it actually required more maintenance than when my hair was slightly longer. Jump forward two years and now I am going into my Senior Year and have gone back on the path of growing my hair out.
The length that I am striving to is a few inches below the collar bone. I don't really want to go any longer and I think its a very attainable goal with my hair type and what I do to my hair. So back to the braids, I decided to do them for the summer because it gives me the chance to stretch out my relaxer and eliminate all heat sources. I will have to admit, I really love having straight hair, and I would usually only straighten my hair every 1-2 weeks depending, but my hair was still growing slow.
In addition to having the braids, I have also been taking hair, nail, and skin supplements to help with hair growth, and drinking tons of water.
Since this isn't going to be a long term hairstyle, next month, probably mid August, I will be taking these braids out before I go home and then get a root touch up on just my relaxer and a slight trim since I haven't had one since March. I am going to lay off the bleach for a bit until my hair gets a bit longer and will probably have that be a once a year thing until I get to my desired length. I am going to have the relaxer be a twice a year thing. The trim, will hopefully be twice a year as well or once a year if I get my hair healthy enough to only need it that much.
In regards to straightening my hair, I will still continue to do that, but I am going to try to possibly blow dry it straight sometimes instead of flat ironing, and I will also try to include dry shampoo into my hair care to possibly stretch out my wash days.
Here a few photos to just show you what I am working with now and what I am hoping to get in August as well as my desired hair goal.
*Disclaimer: photos that are not of me where found off of Pinterest.

Reflection
As I sit here in my kitchen, drinking hot lemon water with an 2nd time used green tea bag, I search the internet from my Senior year summer assignment looking for trends that I believe will be in the year 2015. However, I also start looking at other peoples fashion blogs and see what makes them unique and special and how they have attracted an audience that makes readers want to come back and hear or see more from them. This made me then reflect upon what I have tried to create from myself and have realized that I have been only staying at the surface of the world that I could create. I have also not been putting in the content that I know that I should be creating for not only myself but to the readers that I wan to attract.
Going forward from this inner reflection I had before I have even truly started my day, I know now what I should do going forward. Expect some changes and growth going forward.

Life and College
As I sit in my College housing living room, getting some non-fashion related work done, I start to realize how great of a semester I am having. I am not saying that this extended winter and mass of snow has made this semester great, but I will have to say that I am loving all of my classes even my one business class. The people I have met this semester have been wonderful and I think I am starting to get this social mentality that most college kids get beyond the first semester of Freshman year. I think after getting ill and going a little excessive with the social scene of freshman year, i retracted and decided to focus more on school since that is why I am in school. I never really minded it but it was a strain on my fridays when I could blow of some steam with some dancing and laughter. But given that my birthday is coming up in a few days and I have made a great group of friends and have grown closer to the ones I already have, I think the rest of this semester and college career is going to be amazing and full of great memories.
Parties and going out is not the best thing about College, but it does create great memorize that might last a lifetime. 21st Birthday here I come.

Update_Back on the East Coast
I am back on the east coast for school in NY. I am happy to be hear because I get to do what I love which is Fashion Design, but I will have to say that I am already missing the weather of Los Angeles. It is very cold here and has already put a layer of snow on the ground. I am not complaining yet since I chose to go to school here. I may not post as much in the next couple of day since I am still trying to get into the swing of things, but I will not forget about you guys and I have some food posts that i think I want to include soon.

Weight loss / Health Update
Since I have been home and trying to eat healthier and for the most part staying away from sugar, dairy, dough, and fried foods I have lost 9 lbs in 4 weeks. Now I am not saying that I was always eating the best, at the beginning of the weight loss journey, I had thought I would be exercising more to counteract the eating habits, but since I don't have the time at the moment to give the time for that, I have been eating healthier eating dried fruits and cashew ice cream to compensate for my sweet tooth.
This brings my BMI to 21.66 at 151 lbs
Starting at 160 lbs with a BMI of 22.96
I have 21 lbs left to go
For the next week, I am going to start incorporating more cardio exercise on a daily, as well as incorporating more salads and water as well as smoothies and juices.
